In 1977 also the Alfetta, after a year from the GTV, was equipped with the 2000cc engine (type 116.55, engine 01623). Significant cosmetic changes were introduced with redesigned grille, headlights and bumpers, as well as the handles and taillights. The interior is also new. At the beginning of July 1978 the 2000L version (type 116.55C) arrived with an engine (type 01655) that featured new camshafts and a pneumatic advance corrector. This reduced fuel consumption and also resulted in an increase in power of about 8 horsepower (from 122 to 130). As of December 1978, the 2000L was also available with a ZF automatic transmission. The "L" remained in production until 1982, when the 116.55F arrived which kept the 01655 engine.
