Over time, the Citroën brand had somewhat lost the audacity that had characterized its creations at least until the mid-seventies. With the BX, Citroën dared again something more original, but the car was not unanimously successful in aesthetic terms (but the line, designed by Bertone, remains very pleasant today). It was however a certainly more original best seller than the Renault 18 or the Peugeot 305. Produced for 12 years, from 1982 to 1994, it experienced an infinite number of versions and engines up to the sportiest variants, including some rallying and racing configs. Commercially the BX rescued the Citroën exactly as the 205 got Peugeot out of trouble.
