The sixth generation of the Golf GTI was marketed in 2009. The tuning was done by ex-driver Hans Stuck, two-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car was equipped with the 1984cc turbo engine, capable of 210hp at 5300 rpm, a little bit in front of a competition that was now up to 250 if not 300hp. And in fact, when the new GTI came out, the disappointment of many was evident. The novelties compared to the Golf V GTI were to be found in the development of the chassis and suspension, but the sixth generation of the GTI never became a true sports car.
