The Forges et Ateliers de Construction d’Eure-et-Loir (Facel) launched in 1954 in the manufacture of luxury cars with Chrysler V8 engines. Five years later a small sports car was produced with a French twin-shaft, then replaced by the Volvo and again later a 6-cylinder BMC. The Facels produced were about 3000 until 1965, the year of liquidation. The Facel III Cabriolet powered by Volvo, produced between 1963 and 1964 is one of the most sought-after versions by collectors today.
