In the mid-fifties, the Peugeot range was still based on the now obsolete 203. It was time to propose something new. Studies for a new sedan began in 1954 and led, in 1956, to the presentation of the 403, a modern car destined for great commercial success. The mechanics were that of the 203, and the line remained classic, although more current than the previous production. Versions were also made, convertible and family.
