The E39 is the fourth generation of the BMW 5 series. Marketed since September 1995, it stood out for its great manufacturing quality and high-level performance. The lines of the E39 were inspired by those of the 7 series and the technological content of the new car was a significant step forward compared to the previous E34. There were many engines, petrol and diesel, with the top model, the M5, equipped with a 400 horsepower 5-liter V8. The E39 went out of production in June 2003.
