With the 405 Mi16, Peugeot attempted the bet of the sports car hidden under the guise of a quiet sedan. Produced from 1987 to 1995 in 45,659 units, the car had a 1992 restyling that brought it aesthetically closer to the 605. The engine, a 1905cc with 160 horsepower, was replaced in 1992 by 1998cc (150 horsepower). The 405 Mi16 also served as a basis for the Superturismo competitions, as well as for the homologation in Group A and N.
