Compared to the "breaking" F2012, the 2013 Ferrari F1, signed F138, marked a certain return to conventionality, even if the rear hood was notable for a completely new shape - at least for Ferrari. The aerodynamic research on the F138 was very accurate. After a promising season's start, with two successes by Alonso (China and Spain) and with several second places, the competitiveness of the F138 waned, leaving Vettel open the way to his fourth consecutive title. Alonso finished second in the drivers' standings, albeit very detached from the Red Bull driver.
