The history of every manufacturer more or less oriented towards competition is full of ghost cars, that is, designed and never built. Abarth is no exception. In 1971 the house of the Scorpion passed under the complete control of Fiat. The SE023 project of a competition prototype with a 2000 engine monocoque chassis dates back to that year. The 236E engine was to be a development of the units used in the competition in previous years on the various tubular boats. The gearbox was the well-known 5-speed type A139. The car, which was to be equipped with a monocoque chassis, had the same wheelbase as the SE019, 020, 021 and 022 of 1970. Nothing was done, however, and of the SE023 only the technical drawings remained.
