The Brabham BT55 is still remembered as a revolutionary project compared to the Formula 1 standards of the 1980s. Born from the volcanic mind of Gordon Murray, this car made entirely of carbon fiber was quickly renamed "sole" because of its extremely flat aerodynamic profile, 23 cm lower than the 1985 BT54 model. Powered by a turbo engine Bmw 4 cylinders suitably tilted on the left side, with manual 7-speed Weissman gearbox, the Brabham BT55 made its appearance in 1986, initially entrusted to the two Italian drivers Riccardo Patrese and Elio De Angelis. It was the latter who paid the price of a single-seater with extreme solutions, falling victim to an accident on May 14 during a test session at the Le Castellet circuit. The death of the Roman driver shocked Murray himself, who therefore decided to leave the Brabhams to move to McLaren, when he resumed the same BT55 project to lay the foundations of the MP4 / 4 that dominated the 1988 World Cup with Ayrton Senna.

The 1986 Monaco GP was the last for Elio de Angelis before the accident in the Paul Ricard tests. At his GP of the season, the Roman driver qualified in 20th place, only to have to retire due to a broken heat exchanger.

In the history of static modeling, Spark has truly revolutionized the market. The brand was created by Hugues Ripert, whose father André had been one of the main contenders of the artisanal modeling scene in the 70s and 80s. After working for Vitesse, Quartzo and Ixo, Ripert jr did not choose the diecast technique but opted for resin, with production in China but development and conception strictly in the European tradition. In practice the idea was to offer special models built in small series (what were later called "resincast"). The first Sparks were released in 2000, with a quality-price ratio unapproachable for most industrial and artisanal producers. Today Spark continues to churn out dozens of new products a year, having also expanded its production to other scales, such as 1:18 but also 1:64. There are numerous numbered and limited series for the various national distributors and for private customers such as teams, sponsors, drivers and so on.
