After winning at Le Mans in 1980 with the M379B model, Jean Rondeau could be considered an established manufacturer and his cars participated in the 1982 world endurance championship. Based on the M379, Rondeau had created a more modern and aerodynamic car, complying with the Group C regulations, the M382. Equipped with the 3900cc Ford Cosworth DFL engine, the car managed to win the 1982 Monza 1000kms with Giorgio Francia and Henri Pescarolo. Some examples of the M382 continued to run with different engines even beyond the mid-eighties.
