SPARK-MODEL - BRABHAM - F1 BT42 N 28 DUTCH GP 1974 J.WATSON

With the Brabham BT42 designer Gordon Murray definitely made a name for himself. Short wheelbase car, it was characterized by original lines and a dynamic air intake for the engine, destined to make school. Mechanically, the BT42 offered nothing different from the classic Cosworth V8 engine combined with the Hewland gearbox. The BT42 enjoyed a long career even with private teams. Andrea De Adamich, Wilson Fittipaldi, Loris Kessel, Gérard Larrousse, Carlos Pace, Teddy Pilette, Carlos Reutemann, Richard Robarts, Rolf Stommelen, John Watson and Eppie Wietzes piloted the car.

After making his debut in F.1 in 1973, for the 1974 season John Watson agreed with John Goldie Racing with Hexagon, which fielded a Brabham BT42. In the Netherlands, at Zandvoort, Watson qualified in 13th place and then finished seventh in the race. Watson's best result that year was a fourth place in Austria. With 6 points scored, Watson ranked 14th in the drivers' championship.
