The Alpine A310 has had a very varied racing career, from the track to rallies, from raids to rallycross. It all started in 1974 with the 1800cc A110-powered Group 4 A310 making its debut at the Ronde Cévenole. The arrival of the V6 PRV gave the car further momentum and during the 1976 and 1977 racing seasons the 4-cylinder and the V6 alternated on competition versions. However, the A310 V6 was not homologated in Gr.4 due to the low number of units built and was therefore always entered in Gr.5.
