For 1987 the AGS team developed the JH22 Formula 1, a refinement of the JH21C, powered by a Ford Cosworth DFZ. The car was never very competitive, however showing some improvement at the end of the season when Roberto Moreno, who had taken the place of Pascal Fabre, finished sixth in the Australian GP, ensuring a point for the team. One of the cars was later used as a base for testing the Negre W12 engine.
