Anglian Cars Ltd, owned by Jo Marquart and Nick Jordan, was a very active marque in the 1980s, specializing in the production of prototype cars for Group C and IMSA. The two best known models were the JM16 and the JM19. For the 1986 season, rallycross champion Martin Schanche bought a JM19 and fitted it with a 1.8-litre Zakspeed turbo engine. In 1987 the JM19 chassis was replaced by the JM19B and in 1988 Schanche switched to the more reliable 3.3-litre Cosworth DFL engine for the JM19C: the car gained in strength but was quite penalized by the greater weight. The adoption of the DFL involved a lengthening of the wheelbase and a lengthy development process.
