Fabian Samengo-Turner, one of three brothers who ran the Yeoman Credit finance company, met Ken Gregory (British Racing Partnership (BRP) in August 1959. Just one month later, BRP driver Chris Bristow finished third in the Gold Cup at Oulton Park driving a Yeoman Credit sponsored Cooper. With the help of Chief Mechanic Tony Robinson, the Yeoman Credit Racing Team, backed technically by BRP, finalized a European program for the 1960 season with Cooper T51 Formula 1 cars. Olivier Gendebien, Phil Hill, Tony Brooks, Chris Bristow, Henry Taylor and Bruce Halford raced with Yeoman cars.At the end of the season Yeoman Credit and BRP separated, each continuing their own sporting activity, the first still with Cooper cars, the second with Lotuses.
