Beyond the usual profile that could make it look like a "normal" 911 RSR, the car for the top GT championships developed by Porsche from the 2017 season is very different from its ancestors. Thanks to a fairly vague regulation, the engine changes its position, now occupying the space in front of the rear axle, as had happened with the 911 GT1. Due to the new positioning of the engine, the wheelbase lengthens. In 2017 the new RSR is exclusive to the official team, while private teams will have to continue with the 2016 version. Starting from 2018 the 911 RSR model 2017 is also sold to private teams.
