In 1984 Audi presented an evolution version of the Quattro which had been dominating the rally scene for a few years but which was beginning to bear the brunt of age. The Sport Quattro, as the new car was called, had a significantly shortened wheelbase and a new 4-valve turbo engine with an aluminum block that gave a power of 306 HP. The wide use of composite material made the Sport Quattro a real racing car, which was successfully used in rallies in the mid-eighties. The road version of the Sport Quattro intended for rallies was produced in just 214 units between 1983 and 1985. The power of the 20-valve 5-cylinder reached 306hp. Compared to its rivals (Ford RS200, Lancia Delta S4, Peugeot 205 T16) the road-going Sport Quattro was much more comfortable and equipped. Today the prices of this car are quite high (about 400,000 euros) given its rarity and historical prestige.
