After manufacturing cycles under the Gladiator brand, then resold, and later electric vehicles, Alexandre Darracq acquired the license to produce Léon Bollée cars in 1898. He specialized in the production of light cars, but equally oriented towards more important cars, including racing and record-breaking cars. In 1905 Darracq passed under British control and Alexandre Darracq left the company in 1912. In 1920 the brand was integrated into the Sunbeam-Talbot-Darracq consortium but the name Darracq gradually fell into oblivion, except in Great Britain where he continued to designate the Talbots made in Suresnes to distinguish them from the London ones.
