In view of the change in regulations in 1982, with the arrival of Group B in place of Group 4, Opel this time approved the Manta B model, which had already been in production for some time. Developing a model designed specifically for Group B would have cost too much for the German brand. The Manta 400 Group B had the same 2410cc engine as the Manta 400 Gr.B and achieved good results, especially in the European championship and in various national championships, such as the English and French ones.
