Introduced in February 1967, the first generation of the Opel Commodore was technically based on the Rekord C but had 6-cylinder 2239 and 2490cc engines. In November 1967 the GS version was presented, with more power and sportier characteristics. The GS / E, produced in just under 10,000 units, had the 150 horsepower version of the 2.5-liter 6-cylinder and was also successfully used in competitions. This Commodore family was discontinued in 1971.
