Two years after the birth of the 3500GT, Bertone tried his hand at the chassis of this model in 1959, setting up a coupé. The project was entrusted to Franco Scaglione, who interpreted the theme drawing on other recent creations, such as the NSU Prinz Coupé or the Alfa Romeo Giulietta SS, both revised by Bertone in 1959. The line was not entirely convincing and the 3500 GT Coupé Bertone remained a unique example.
