Designed by Marcello Gandini with particularly refined aerodynamics, the fourth generation Maserati Quattroporte, marketed since 1994, was the shortest up to that time (4.55 m). The mechanics were derived from that of the 430, but with significant improvements and modifications, including some elements of the Ferrari 456. The engine was the V6-4AC-24, in the 2-liter or 2.8-liter variants, or the V8-AC -32, supercharged by a double IHI turbo. From 1998 an “evolution” series was launched, more reliable and mechanically perfected. The Quattroporte IV went out of production in 2001.
