After several years of testing and development, the first Range Rover rolled out of the Solihull plants in 1970. Aesthetically it resembled the Land Rover, but was placed in a more refined range, while retaining the characteristics of a true 4x4. In over 25 years of production of the first series, Range Rover experienced countless versions and body configurations with 2 and 4 doors. The first type Range went out of production in 1996, when the new P38 had already been available for two years.
