In 2011, to round off the commercialization of the 911 model 997, Porsche proposed a limited version of the GT3 RS, equipped with a 4-liter strongly inspired by competition. The engine developed no less than 500hp, a feature that made it the most powerful atmospheric flat six in the history of the brand at the time. As standard, the 997-II GT3 RS 4.0 received the Clubsport package, which included rear roll cage, competition seats, fire extinguisher and sports seat belts. 600 numbered examples of the GT3 RS 4.0 were built.
