Created by Vehbi Koç in 1959, the Turkish brand Otosan started its business by producing cars under the English Ford license. Otosan subsequently moved on to an independent production, with the help of the English Reliant, known for its small series. Using an 1198cc Ford engine on the Cortina and with collaboration from Ogle for the design, Otosan produced the Anadol A1 in December 1966. The car had a fiberglass body.
