Unexpected Return Whereas the majority of the people worried about their daily supply of food four years after World War II, the premium body maker Figoni & Falaschi already manufactured car bodies, which did not in the slightest create the impression that there was a shortage in material and that the megalomania knows limits. One of these designs was a opulent car body that based on the chassis of a Talbot Lago. The car with the designation Talbot Lago T26 Grand Sport Coupe was one of the first cars designed by the body maker after the war. The car was ordered by the “Zipper King” Mister Fayolle and featured therefore a zipper-like string of horizontal chrome strips on its front hood. It is not known how the car found its way to the United States, where Lindley Locke bought it in 1960, years later. But the Locke’s interest in the exclusive French car was only little. Soon the car disappeared in a garage and got forgotten. After 47 years the car saw the light of the day again. Today it shines in its old glory due to a lavish restauration. After its restauration it was presented for the first time at the Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach in 2018; exactly 70 years after its “birth”. According to expectations the Talbot Lago T26 Grand Sport Coupe was one of the highlights of the show and enthralled the visitors and the press.
