Czech manufacturer Skoda, now integrated into the VW group, was already building prestigious large-displacement cars under the Hispano Suiza license in the 1920s. Large cars were gradually abandoned after 1940, leaving room for cheaper models. As early as 1935, the Rapid, with a 1385cc engine, had been released, famous for its sedan body with a sunroof. Rapid was produced until 1938.
