May 29, 1960 was a historic date for Ferrari. In the second GP of the season, in Monte Carlo, he finally took to the track at 246P, Ferrari's first F1 single-seater designed with the engine behind the driver. After all, the best English teams had already adopted that solution and the Ferrari designer Carlo Chiti was one of the strongest supporters of this new current. The car, equipped with the 2.4-liter V6 engine, did very well with Ritchie Ginther, confirming that that was the way to go.
