The 290MM was one of many Ferraris that drew glory from the Mille Miglia. From a technical point of view, the 290MM marked Ferrari's return to 12-cylinder engines after a short experience with the 4 and 6 in-line cylinders. The MM generated other cars which, while remaining the overall displacement (3500cc), had a greater power margin.
