The Ferrari 250 GTO chassis 3987GT was delivered to Luigi Chinetti in October 1962. It had the typical post-3757GT body configuration. The car made its racing debut at the Paris 1000km at Montlhéry, where the Rodriguez brothers took it to first place. Later the 3987GT passed to the John Mecom team, who raced it throughout 1963.
