The third generation of the Jaguar XJ was marketed starting from 1979. The car acquired the reliability that had been lacking in the previous series (especially the second one), especially from the 1984 versions. The engines were the well-known 6 cylinders and 12 cylinders, with the production of the 6 cylinders (4.2 liters) which was kept only until 1986; the large 12-cylinder with powers from 260 to 295 horsepower was very thirsty but ensured unparalleled flexibility. The XJ6 / XJ12 is still appreciated today for being an exceptional compromise between sportiness and comfort.
