The second series of the Austin Healey Sprite lost the aesthetic originality of the first series but gained in reliability. Introduced in 1961, the Sprite MkII had the same 948cc engine as the MkI, which it kept until 1962, when a more powerful 1098cc 55 horsepower engine was introduced. The Sprite MkII remained in production until 1964.
