The 911 Turbo completed the range with great ambitions, going to occupy a very special place in the history of Porsche, inaugurating turbocharging in commercial production. Presented at the Paris Motor Show in October 1974, the Turbo completed the 911 offer, already very complete. Derived from the Carrera RS 3.0 unit, the 911 Turbo engine (type 930/50) took up its 3-liter displacement, adding a KKK turbine at 0.8 bar, which allowed a power of 260 bhp. The 911 Turbo (also known as 930), apart from the cost, was not a car for everyone: the typical behavior of the 911 was even accentuated making it rather temperamental, but also incredibly fun. Starting with the K series presented in August 1977, the 911 Turbo saw its displacement increase to 3.3 liters, with the maximum power rising to 300 bhp. For this new version, the car received a newly shaped rear spoiler. The Turbo remained the dream of many enthusiasts for the rest of the seventies and for almost all the eighties. In 1987 the car was equipped with the Targa and Cabriolet bodies. In 1988 the new 964 series was launched which for the moment did not include a new Turbo. The 930 remained in production until the end of 1988. Turbo enthusiasts had to wait until March 1990 for the presentation of the supercharged 964 model. The 930 Turbo also had a good sports career, both in rallies and on the track. Some exemplars took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with private teams in the 70s and in the 80s, when the car was homologated in group B.
