Sharp edges, high waistline, soft top, body with striking reinforcements, Spartan cockpit: the Volkswagen 181, introduced in 1970, is an unmistakable vehicle. Very robust, some elements (headlights, blinkers ...) were derived from the Beetle. The mechanics came from the Beetle, namely the classic flat-four 1493cc giving 44 horsepower. The 181 remained in production until 1979.
