Five years after the presentation of the 458 Italia, the spider version of the Speciale was launched in 2014, the coupé model of which was introduced in 2013. The 458 Speciale A ("A" as aperta, i.e. open) weighed about 50 kg more than the coupé but it also boasted notable performances. It was still the most performing spider in Ferrari history, capable of lapping two seconds faster at Fiorano than the Spider standard of 2011.
