In 1982 the Opel Rekord E underwent a restyling, assuming the internal code E2. The preparations were numerous (LS, GL, GLS, CD) as well as the engines: 1796, 1979, 2260cc petrol and 2.3-liter turbodiesel. The bodies were the 4-door sedan and the 4-door caravan: therefore the 2-door sedan, produced in the E series from 1977 to 1982, disappeared. The Rekord E2 remained in production until 1986.
