In October 1968, Fiat joined the Fiat 124 with the new 124 Special model, which derived from the same car body but by mounting a more powerful engine (the type 124B2000 with 1438cc and 70 horsepower) was capable of better performance. Externally the 124 Special differed above all for the new front with double headlights. Changes were also introduced to the rear suspension. The 124 Special first series remained in production until 1970.
