While the M3 became more and more civilized, BMW decided to spice up its compact cars, to be produced in the M versions. The 1M was presented on 12 December 2010. The car, which immediately aroused great enthusiasm, was equipped with the 6-cylinder in line N54B30 Twin Power of the Z4 35i, optimized for the occasion: the power was 340 horsepower at 5900 rpm and with an exceptional torque. Two finishes to choose from: Club Sport or Classic, with a catalog of M Performance accessories that allowed a large number of customizations. Production stopped in 2012 and was limited: 6342 examples of which 4155 are left-hand drive.
