At the beginning of 1970 the Bolognese brand AMS designed a new sports car, characterized by a paneled tube frame and a rounded body, built in Modena by Piero Drogo. The 1000cc engine was either Ford-Novamotor or Ford Cosworth. There were many pilots to shine with the AMS 1000 such as Mario Barone, Ildo Gonfiotti, Dino Marniga and Luigi Moreschi. From 1971 the unforgettable Mauro Nesti and Romano Martini, alias Shangry'là, also drove the AMS.
