The desire to officially return to the Sport category competitions after the experiences with the 6C 2500, 3000, 3000 CM and 3000 PR, prompted the management of Alfa to launch the project for a new boat, this time falling into the class up to 1500cc. The study of the chassis was initially entrusted to Abarth; the engine, a 1488cc in-line 4 cylinder, produced 145 horsepower. Some development problems slowed the birth of the 750 Competizione and only two examples, which never raced, were prepared. Alfa Romeo decided to focus on the production of the Giulietta and on the design of new road cars.
