With the MkVI series, Bentley continued to benefit from the fruits of the technical collaboration with Rolls Royce, which began before the Second World War. The MkVI, introduced in 1946, had the same 4257cc 6-cylinder engine as the pre-war MkV, but with some upgrades. The MkVI was also produced with a displacement of 4566cc starting in 1951, the year in which the 4527cc version went out of production. In 4.5 liter configuration the MkVI remained on the list until 1952, but the 4.5 liter engine was used on the developments, called R-Type, until 1955, the year of the introduction of a totally new generation of Bentley, called S1 . As usual, numerous coachbuilders tried their hand at the MkVI, resulting in more or less sporty and elegant cars.
