Preceded by the 350 GT 2+2 and still bodied by Touring, in 1966 the Lamborghini 400 GT entered the price list. The car adopted, mounted at the front, the 4-litre V12 of the previous coupé (which continued to be marketed), which with its 320hp at 6500 rpm guaranteed a top speed of around 250 km/h. Compared to the 350 GT, the ZF gearbox and Salisbury differential were replaced with new units designed from scratch by Dallara. The 400 GT remained in production until 1968.
