The De Soto brand was created in 1982 by Walter P. Chrysler and joined the Chrysler Group, made up of Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge. It positioned itself between the Chrysler and Dodge ranges. The Adventurer was one of the models that coincided with the demise of the De Soto brand. In 1959 the Adventurer range was modified; the 6286cc V8 engine developed a power of 350 horsepower, which was reduced to 330 in 1960. The Adventurer range included a coupe, convertible, hard top 4-door coupe and sedan sedan. The bodywork of the latest series was characterized by even more pronounced tail fins.
