At the Geneva Motor Show in March 1949, Fiat debuted the C version of the famous 500, modified in bodywork and modernized also in mechanics. The most important innovation from an engine point of view was the adoption of the aluminum cylinder head. The engine, type 500B, was a 569cc in-line 4-cylinder with 16.5 horsepower. The 500C remained in production until 1955, when it was replaced by the 600.
