The need to include a real four-seater in its range prompted Porsche to commission Pininfarina to design a special 911. The car, signed B17, was presented in 1969. However, production was not started, also due to the excessive weight of the car. Porsche subsequently started other plans for a four-seater 911, which never reached production.
