In the 1950s, special bodies were not uncommon and a wealthy Chinese entrepreneur, Tan Tjoan Keng, mainly based in the Netherlands, had a very special aerodynamic Mercedes 500K made, designed by Hermann Ahrens. This luxurious coupe was assembled by Mercedes and used regularly by its owner. Traces of the car were lost after the Second World War.
