Under the direction of Alan Good, its new president, Lagonda hired Walter Owen Bentley and Stuart Tresilian who had just left Rolls Royce in the mid-1930s. It was they who developed the V12, equipped with a 4.5-liter aluminum engine with a single overhead camshaft per cylinder bank. The bodywork was well profiled and responded to the aesthetic and aerodynamic canons typical of the period.
