For its second racing season, in 1970, the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA 1300 junior received enlarged plastic mudguards (homologation from 1 January 1970) fixed with rivets, which allows 9'x13' rims. The racing GTAj 1300 was a successful model in the European Touring Championship and other championships. The last official season was 1972 but the car continued to be used by private teams even in the following years.
