Much of the work on the Williams for the 2005 F1 season focused on aerodynamics. During the winter of 2004-2005, Frank Williams' team encountered several problems in the correct functioning of the air flows in the car; the difficulties were partially overcome during the season. The FW27 was equipped with the 2998cc BMW P84 / 5 V10 engine. The 2005 drivers were Mark Webber, Nick Heidfeld and Antonio Pizzonia. Heidfeld was second in Monaco and at the European GP, but Webber was the most continuous, best placed driver at the end of the year (tenth place). Williams finished fifth in the constructors' championship.
